After his studies at the Photo Academy, Dutch born and New York City based Micha Douwes worked as a photographer, only to discover that cinematography would be the next step for him, from the still image to the moving image.

Since his graduation from the Amsterdam Film Academy he has been working as a director of photography on commercials for clients like Canon, Philips, Chrysler, Footlocker, United Biscuits, Nestle, Kraft Foods, and the NFL.

With 15 years of experience shooting commercials and music videos for national and international artists Micha also photographed numerous feature films and short films in Amsterdam, New York and Brussels. Among them 'You 2' (winner of 14 awards worldwide), 'Cologne' (Winner best film, Film Festival Gent), 'Kinkerstraat' (Nominated for the Prix De L'europe) and 'Bruxelles Mon Amour'.

Currently he is back in his home country for two months, shooting the much anticipated Dutch feature film 'Lotus' with an all star cast of Holland's top actors.
